Joining Ginny at small things again this week—

On the needles…
Last night I cast on—for the third time—Rasmilla’s Elvira tunic for Julia. (Ravelry details here.) It really isn’t that complicated, but the pattern is a little fussy (and so am I, where getting these things exactly right is concerned). Hopefully the third time will be the charm…

On the nightstand…
I’m sort of dabbling with reading this week—a little of this and a little of that. I think I needed to take a week of more casual reading to recharge after the density of Simplicity Parenting!

:: Wherever You Go, There You Are, by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This book is, to a larger or smaller degree, my constant companion; it is always on my nightstand, and I go through cycles where I read a chapter daily and then I don’t pick it up again for weeks or even months. I’m in a “read a chapter daily” cycle at the moment.

:: Another Place at the Table, by Kathy Harrison. This is the second book I’m reading for Jenna’s Adoption Reading Challenge. I’m not very far into it, but I’m hoping to really dive in at some point in the next few days.

:: And the latest issue of Living Crafts, which arrived in the mail last week and which has patterns for a fantastic set of play vegetables and a felt sack that I’m adding to my “to-make” list for the kids. (The patterns are reprinted from Laura Lee Burch’s Sew Magical for Baby, which I am also adding to my library queue. Because I don’t have nearly enough projects to occupy myself…)

I hope three is the lucky number for casting on! I like the book recommendations.

I loved reading Kabat-Zinn several years ago. It’s definitely a book I could return to. And that pattern you’re working on is just beautiful. I hope this is the last time you need to cast on!

I hope so, too. I’m going to have to try one of your patterns next – they’re gorgeous! 🙂

The reason I am ripping my shawl back AGAIN is that I am fussy too! Here’s happy thoughts heading your way that you won’t have to rip back again!

So far, so good – I am resisting the urge to get 20 more minutes’ knitting in. That seems to be when I mess up…

The Elvira tunic is so pretty–I hope you have better luck with it this time. I loved Jon and Myla Kabat-Zim’s book, _Everyday Blessings: The Inner Work of Mindful Parenting_. I’ll have to check out _Wherever You Go, There You Are_. Happy yarn along!

I will have to check out Everyday Blessings. I have quite the queue going on right now but I’ve added that to my list. 🙂
